LAS VEGAS, Calfornia (Dec. 19, 2013) — A 35-year-old woman is dead after being struck by a traffic light pole that was knocked over in a car crash on Bonanza Road just west of Pecos Road, according to a report by News 3.
About 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, Felipe Bermejo, 69, of Las Vegas was driving his 1990 Chevrolet Astro van heading eastbound on Bonanza Road when for unknown reasons he veered to the right and struck the light pole on the sidewalk in front of the Clark County Family Courts parking lot. The pole fell onto the woman who died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash.
The vehicle continued on and struck two cars in the parking lot. Bermejo was injured in the crash and taken to University Medical Center for minor injuries.
“There is an accident report pending for this fatal crash and it will contain an analysis of the collision factors based on evidence collected by police,” said Attorney West Seegmiller. “This report will establish fault. The report, which is typically available within 30 days, is very helpful not only to law enforcement, but also to family and loved ones. We extend our sympathy to the family of this young woman as they try to piece together what happened and come to terms with her loss.”
